Two projects in Greene County have received National Capital Reconstruction Assistance Program grants totaling more than $1.6 million.
The Smart Sands Transfer Facility in Waynesburg will receive a $1 million grant for earthworks, access roads and railroad embankments. It will also cover the labor and material costs of dismantling, transporting, and reassembling silos, bucket elevator scales, and other belts. Part of the budget is used for the construction of railways, including the laying of tracks and turnouts.
A second grant of $634,726 will be used to renovate the ground floor of the Stewart Science Building at Waynesburg University.
Projects being funded include general repairs, installation of sprinklers, mechanical and electrical systems, and electrical wiring to support growing information technology needs. In addition, the clinical simulation space will feature new ceilings, energy-efficient lighting, upgraded infrastructure and electrical wiring, and HVAC. The project also includes design, permitting and management with appropriate funding provided by the university.
