At IFAT in Munich, Goudsmit Magnetics will be presenting its range of band magnets for mobile devices. Modular design magnets remove iron particles from underlying material streams and are suitable for use in mobile processing systems such as shredders, crushers and screens. Magnetic separators are made from ferrite or neodymium magnets, the latter being upgraded from a 2-pole system to a 3-pole system. This improved design provides a stronger magnetic field from the same number of magnets. The neodymium 3-pole top belt allows the iron to spin harder and pull it out even when under a pile of material. This ultimately results in a cleaner product and allows more metal to be recovered.
The design of the moving band magnet is modular and includes an additional attenuator at the end of the magnet. Since mobile crushers are available with multiple power sources – electric or hydraulic – the modular design offers the user the choice of hydraulic drive, gear motor drive or drum motor drive. The new release magnet versions are available in various working widths of 650, 800, 1000, 1200 and 1400mm. This additional magnet moves the material further than the conveyor belt and provides better separation of the attracted iron particles. It also reduces belt wear. Another advantage of neodymium magnets is the low weight of the magnets, which increases the mobility of the grinder or crusher.
In the new design, the magnetic field as well as the shaft and bearings are better protected. The magnetic field no longer radiates beyond the edges of the magnet, so the hyperband magnet is better protected from contamination. Less iron sticks to the outside of the device, saving time on cleaning and maintenance. Protective covers on the shaft and bearings prevent metal parts such as iron wire from wrapping around the shaft. Optimized shielding on the underside of the belt prevents metal particles from getting between the belt and the magnet. In addition, the cushioning layer – an extra layer of rubber placed between the holders – extends the life of the belt. The band magnet also has two central lubrication points, saving valuable operator time.
Goudsmit Magnetics has noticed a growing customer demand for more efficient magnets for mobile crushing, screening and separation plants. 3-pole ferrite system for overhead conveyor magnets optimized for mobile applications. The three-pole neodymium system is a new design. At the IFAT exhibition, you can see both neodymium and ferrite magnets.
